"Roger had spent the last five minutes contemplating the little girl's statue. He believed in Charles talent but this time his friend had outdone himself. Charles work had always been too sad and depressing in naive kind of way but the expressive power of that sculpture was nothing less than overwhelming. He had to study it closely, analyze it, take it in his hands. And so he did. Charles was sleeping heavily, so he had the time to feel every detail: her head, her arms, her breasts, her knees. "Now … why not make it look even better?" The girl's sad melancholic look disturbed him, and would most probably disturb anyone who would look at it. It should look happier! More Dynamic! Yes, he could do that! The clay was still soft and moist and he didn't have to mess with the details, just small changes in the position of the head and arms."
